Lewes has a castle, lots of old buildings, narrow streets and alleyways (locally called Twittens). There’s loads of history, great pubs and restaurants, music and art, The Depot Cinema, theatres and markets.

Glyndebourne, the world-famous and wonderful opera venue, is close by.

Lewes Depot Cinema is an award-winning independent 3-screen cinema and café-restaurant. It is located adjacent to the railway station in the centre of Lewes.

Love Supreme Jazz festival, this recent addition to the Lewes calendar has now become world renowned.

Lewes is also famous for its wild and extravagant Bonfire Night celebrations.

If you want to explore the area, Lewes and the nearby towns and villages offer a wealth of things to do and see, whatever your interest. There’s lots more information on the Lewes Tourist Information website.

Oh, and Brighton is but a short and easy direct train or bus ride away. You can drive there but traffic and parking are difficult.
